KANCHANABURI TOURIST ATTRACTION IN THAILAND

Thailand to an average tourist means Bangkok, Pattaya and Pukhet. To a few Honey Moon couple Karibi Island, Phi Phi Island etc. Gourmets, who love sea food etc. try to indulge in Street Food available in every nook and corner of the towns. They devour Thai Cuisine!
A few sex starved tourists are of the opinion that Cupid has thrown his arrows all over Thailand and local people are pleading to have sex with tourists at the very first available encounter. They are also of the opinion that all these massage parlors are doing only THIS business !
They start behaving in that manner at the very first sight of Thai Air hostess in the flight! ( It is another matter how badly some of our elite professionals like Doctors who go on "refreshers courses" sponsored by Pharma companies behave in the flight and how badly we are looked down by air lines cabin crew !!)
Well, Thailand is much more than all this and there are many historical monuments in places like Ayuthaya, Changmai, Chengrai, Kanchanaburi etc. You can find Ashoka Chakra and three lions statue in Changmai showing the deep rooted ties between India and Thailand dating back to King Ashoka times.
Kanchanaburi is located 120 Km from Bangkok. It shares its border with Myanmar. Due to this reason Imperial forces wanted to use this route to build 415 Km railway line from Bangkok to Rangoon. Initial estimated time span for this job was five years which was not acceptable to Imperial forces. Therefore, 250000 prisoners from many Asian countries were deployed and out of them 100000 personnel died. Most of them were from India too. The work which started in 1942 June completed in October'1943. Japanese wanted to use this route to capture Burma.
This is called Death Railway and the railway bridge on river Kwai in Kanchanaburi became famous on account of the movie " BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI " .
Kanchanaburi has a Allied Prisoners of war cemetery, Thailand Burma Death Railway line, War museum, River Kwai and TIGER TEMPLE. Thai people believe that there is a lot of similarities between Buddhist monks, fire and tiger. All of them have saffron color. These tigers are reared by Monks and they are very playful. They are taken out for a swim in the river. Fed and nurtured like cats. So these snaps are indeed real and we did enjoy this trip despite initial trepidation !!
Take a one day trip from Bangkok and enjoy !!!
