Sikh marriages are supposed be Blissful Union ...Anand Karj as it is known. The ceremonies are supposed to be simple indicating the union of two bodies into one soul ! But due to various influences all that is good and bad from every other religion has got into Sikh Marriages. Thus we have Sangeet, Mehandi, Band Baja Baraat etc.
Sikh marriages are supposed to be performed in serene Gurdwaras with a very simple ritual involving the recital of Guru Granth Shaib and four stanzas accompanied by going around the sacred Guru Granth Shaib by the couple.
The brides father hands over the bride to the bride groom as in every other religion.
